Rodrigo Alves Dias is a Brazilian physicist and professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) with expertise spanning condensed matter physics, computational modeling, and emerging technological applications.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Universidade Católica de Brasília in 2001. He later completed both his Master’s degree (2003) and PhD in Physics (2007) at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, one of Brazil’s leading research institutions.
Dr. Dias’s research lies primarily in Condensed Matter Physics and Applied Physics, with strong emphasis on computational and simulation-based approaches. His work includes molecular dynamics simulations, classical and quantum Monte Carlo methods, and the study of friction phenomena and sliding surfaces at the microscopic level. He has also conducted research on spin dynamics and vortex simulations, contributing to the understanding of complex physical systems.
Beyond traditional physics research, Dr. Dias actively works at the intersection of science, engineering, and digital technologies. His interests include artificial intelligence and computer vision, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing technologies such as FDM and resin-based fabrication. He also develops projects involving 3D modeling and CAD/CAM systems, as well as embedded electronics, working with Arduino platforms and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Dias contributes to bridging fundamental physics with practical technological innovation, applying computational methods and digital fabrication tools to solve complex scientific and engineering problems.
