Perplexity CEO Shuts Down Financial Rumors and Rules Out IPO Until 2028

The biggest names in tech meet at Unicorn Summit

In a recent Reddit AMA, Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas directly addressed growing speculation about the company’s financial health, firmly stating that Perplexity is not facing economic hardship and is not planning to go public before 2028.

The conversation was sparked by user concerns suggesting that Perplexity might be ?struggling financially? and aggressively cutting costs. One specific point of criticism was the introduction of the platform?s Auto mode, where the system automatically selects the AI model best suited to respond to a user query.

Srinivas clarified that this decision wasn?t about saving money, but about enhancing the user experience. ?All AI products are shipping features non-stop, adding clutter through buttons and dropdowns,? he explained. ?That?s not sustainable. We believe the user shouldn’t need to learn a complex interface just to get results.?

He also dismissed any notion that Perplexity is under pressure to reduce spending or rush toward an IPO. ?We?re well-funded, and our revenue keeps growing,? Srinivas noted. ?There are no plans for an IPO before 2028.?

The message was clear: Perplexity is prioritizing smart product development over hype, and it?s playing the long game.
